Another sign that the Republicans may be finally coming to their senses

| January 30, 2009

The new chairman of the Republican National Committee, Michael S. Steele, is giving his acceptance speech as I type this:

What’s appalling (still) is that the #2 vote getter was a white Southerner, Katon Dawson, who had belonged to a whites-only country club all the way up until last September. Sheesh, have they no clue?

Oh, the first sign was the unanimous vote (joined by 11 Democrats) against the trillion-dollar “stimulus” disaster passed by the rest of the House Democrats a few days ago. Now to see if the Senate Republicans have similar cojones. I have some hopes for that, given that even Sen. John “I never met a Democrat I didn’t like” McCain (unsure-AZ) has said that the House “stimulus” bill is unacceptable,  while Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson said he wasn’t sure how many Senate Democrats would vote for the bill.  ..bruce w..
