Sept 21: Clint Eastwood Appreciation Day
Clint Eastwood gave one of the most memorable political convention speeches in the past few decades (at least), and the Left Is Not Amused, pushing their “angry, senile old man” memes for all they’re worth.
Well, Eastwood also has a new movie coming out on September 21, “Trouble With the Curve”, and the Left wants to punish him. Note how an AP article — “Did Eastwood’s RNC act cause trouble for ‘Curve’?” — shows up all over the place. The fourth paragraph of the piece says:
“If you’re a Clint Eastwood fan, my guess is you’ll probably still go to see the movie,” said S. Mark Young, co-author of “The Mirror Effect: How Celebrity Narcissism is Seducing America” and professor at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. “If you’re not, you might be very disappointed with what’s become of Clint.”
Sounds like a leftist call to action to me.
Now, the Chick-Fil-A appreciation day was a big success — and did you notice how that issue completely vanished from leftist talking points and the media[*] afterwards? Their two-minute hate backfired on them, and they’ve turned to other targets…such as Eastwood.
So I’d like to propose the Clint Eastwood Appreciation Day (or weekend, really) for the opening weekend of “Trouble With the Curve” (Sep 21-23). Go see the film. Maybe see it twice. If you don’t want to see it, or don’t have time, just go on-line and buy a ticket or two. Make it not just the #1 film for the weekend, but the biggest opening weekend for Eastwood ever (beating “Gran Torino” at $29.5M). Because you know that if “Trouble With the Curve” is anything but the #1 film that weekend, there will be head-shaking and (mock-)sad tut-tutting about how America is rejecting Eastwood due to his outrageous and inappropriate RNC talk.
So, spread the word, cowboy up, and buy a ticket or two. Do it for Clint. ..bruce w..
