Blizzard
A year ago today, I was blogging during the Great Denver Blizzard — which, as it turned out, was just the first of a series of weekly snowstorms that kept the ground covered with snow for two months straight (and missed by just a few days setting an all-time record here in Denver). Welcome to [...]
A significant portion of the traffic to this website comes from people searching for computer wallpaper (particularly involving winter, sunsets, and winter sunsets). To that end, I’ve created a separate page (see the page bar above) where I’m posting all the wallpaper versions of certain photographs I’ve shot. I’ve also started posting new wallpaper over [...]

You think I’m kidding? Snow is falling, with wind gusts >30 mph. Nothing is sticking so far, but if I can trust the weather forecasters (who don’t have the best track record, frankly), we could see 6″ to 12″ of snow by tomorrow morning. Personally, I blame Bush. ..bruce..

Today’s Washington Post has an article about the resignation of Lawrence Small from his post as Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. The following paragraph (on page 2 of the story) caught my eye: Small has also received $1.15 million in housing allowances over a six-year period in return for agreeing to use his 6,500-square-foot home [...]

[UPDATED 11/23/07] Note that I’ve now placed all my wallpaper photographs (including the ones below) in their own separate page on this blog (see the “Wallpaper” tab in the pages bar above). …we got another 4″ to 6″ of snow today: The third snowstorm in as many weeks swept into Colorado on Friday, further hampering efforts to restore power to rural homes and rescue thousands of cattle stranded by last week’s blizzard. And another storm is due in next Thursday/Friday — that will make four storms in [...]
[UPDATED 11/23/07] Note that I’ve now placed all my wallpaper photographs (including the ones below) on their own separate page on this blog (see the “Wallpaper” tab in the pages bar above). [UPDATED 01/06/07] Since a lot of people appear to be linking to this post as well, I’ve copied the “Winter Sunset” photo and [...]
[UPDATED 11/23/07] Note that I’ve now placed all my wallpaper photographs (including this one) in their own page on this blog (you can also use the ‘Wallpaper’ tab in the pages bar above). [UPDATED 01/04/07] Many thanks for Gaius over at Blue Crab Boulevard (one of my favorite blogs) for the link and the kind [...]
The low pressure system causing this storm has shifted east and south, limiting the blizzard impact to the eastern and southern portions of Colorado — which means at this point, we’re not going to get much more in the way of snow. I spent two hours snowblowing the driveway early yesterday evening, and it’s stayed [...]

I did go out last night and spent an hour or so getting the driveway cleared off — it’s much easier and faster when you only have 2″ to 8″ of snow on the driveway instead of 2′ to 5′. Getting up this morning, I see there isn’t that much more new snow — only [...]
